When I was 16 I had the opportunity to hop across this pond and spend 11 days in Europe. It was a dream of mine and I am so blessed have had the opportunity to go for my senior trip. The first stop on our destination was Paris.
We did a more traditional option to a hotel and rented an apartment. It was tiny and old and had a strange bathroom in the staircase wall, but I loved it. I woke up to the sounds of traffic and the smell of pastries for the bakery right outside my window. We didn’t have internet or phone service so I was emersed in culture.
We hit all the high points, the Louvre, Versailles,Notre Dam, and even got to eat atop the Eiffel tower. It was a great experience. Lots of walking and trying to bridge the language barrier, but it was fantastic. Ate my weigh in pasta without a doubt.
If you ever have the chance to go it is worth embracing the tourist mobs. The lines are inevitable and its best to buy tickets to attractions before you get there. Bring comfortable shoes also cause you have to walk a lot. We went in June and it was still a little chilly despite the fact I have shorts on in every picture.
